NAZARETH HOUSE JHB CHILDREN COMMUNITY CENTRE VIDEO

Filming the community centre video for the Nazareth House in Johannesburg for children was something that strongly tugged on our heartstrings. Like the other houses of Nazareth, there were so many rich emotions and an overwhelming amount of warmth displayed by everyone that worked there. At this specific house, the National and Provincial Social Welfare departments and the Children’s Court and also the South African Police entrust any abandoned babies and children to the nuns at the Nazareth House. This house is specially for those children whome no longer have a home or loved one to care for them, they currently have a total of 40 babies and children that are in their care. It was because of this that we wanted to do as much as we could to portray the true and heartfelt emotions in this this community centre video for them.

The nuns at the Nazareth House in Johannesburg for children are given the sole responsibility of caring for the children’s physical, emotional and spiritual needs. This includes the nuns providing 24 hour care to these children, as well as housing, nutritious food, clothing, education, specialised nursing and also medication. Depending on the situation or severity, some children the house receives are only placed with them for short periods, as a means of protection in emergency situations. However, in some cases, other children, due to their special circumstances, are placed with them indefinitely, until they are legally able to live on their own and support themselves. It was something truly surreal for us to see and we feel so lucky to have been able film this community centre video to share with everyone else around the world.

The shooting and filming for this community centre video was able to be completed within a day. We got some incredible heartfelt moments captured, filled with love, kindness and a passion for helping others. What an indescribable experience for us!
